Remark! Voice Server

The Remark! Voice Server provides a robust hosting platform for a wide range of custom Interactive Voice Response applications for Lotus Notes. The combination of Lotus Phone Notes and Big Sky's Remark! Voice Server enables the development of telephony applications that extend the power of Notes beyond the desktop and into the hands of anyone with a touch-tone telephone or instant messaging client.

Whether it's a Help Desk application, Information Hotline, or Benefit Enrollment system, telephone access for interactive voice response, voice messaging, fax-on-demand, or paging can be added. Instant messaging can also be included to support features such as notification, status updates and configuration settings.

What's new in V4 - This latest version of Remark! includes the following new features.

  • Support for IBM Lotus Instant Messaging. Phone Notes applications can login to an Instant Messaging server and send and receive chat messages from users. In addition, Phone Notes application can check the availability of users using the awareness capability of Lotus Instant Messaging.
  • Applications can now be started and stopped individually. This allows administrators to upgrade one application without affecting the ability of another application to continue taking calls or IM requests.
  • License usage dialog. The Remark! Service Manager now includes a license usage dialog which indicates the licenses currently in use as well as the maximum license usage.

Big Sky continues to enhance the Remark! Voice Server platform to bring more value to existing customers and to provide more opportunities for new customers to leverage their existing voice and messaging infrastructures.

Remark! Voice Server Manager

V4.03 is now shipping - This version of the Remark! Voice Server includes several enhancements:

  • Support for Avaya IP Office and NEC MCI Interfaces. Remark! now supports two new PBX integration options. IP Office is a TAPI based VoIP integration that doesn't require a voice board, and the NEC MCI interface is a serial or network link between the NEC NEAX PBX systems and the Remark! Voice Server.
  • Support for Cisco CallManager. The Remark! Voice Server can be configured to connect to Cisco CallManager without the need for special voice processing boards. CallManager is supported in addition to existing support for NMS Communications and Intel / Dialogic voice processing boards.
  • Ability to run multiple applications simultaneously. Customers can now run multiple custom applications, such as a help desk and sales force automation applications, alongside Remark! Unified MessagingAssistant on a single server.
  • Ability to run multiple instances of the same application. Customers can install more than one instance of the same application, including Remark! Unified MessagingAssistant, on a single server. A single server can now support the unified messaging or workgroup IVR needs of multiple companies.
  • ScanSoft RealSpeak Text-to-Speech support. RealSpeak is a premium TTS offering that provides realistic voice quality for playback of e-mail messages and other text content. Now ScanSoft's RealSpeak or TruVoice TTS options are available.
  • Lotus Notes and Domino 7 and Sametime 7 support. Notes and Domino 7 is the latest version of the premier collaboration and messaging application platform from IBM.
  • Support for two highly compressed voice formats. The Remark! Voice Server now supports the DSP Group's TruSpeech and Microsoft's GSM 6.10 voice formats providing highly compressed voice files for new recordings. Each of these new formats provide approximately 1 kbyte/second data rates bringing the storage required for a typical 30 second message to about 30 kbytes.
